Blepharoplasty in Perth: What can I Expect?

The following post covers everything you need to know about undergoing blepharoplasty (eye surgery) in Perth. If you have any questions about this procedure, you’ll find the answers below!

What is Blepharoplasty?

Our eyes begin to look different as we grow older: our lids stretch and the supportive muscles become weaker. As a result, you may notice:

  • your eyelids beginning to sag/ droop
  • dark bags forming beneath the lower eyelids

Each of these can be difficult to accept or hide, especially as people see your eyes every day. You may feel self-conscious during conversations and avoid eye-contact, even with friends or your partner.

Blepharoplasty is a common procedure to remove excess skin from around the eyes. This restores a more youthful appearance and can rejuvenate the entire face.

Makeup is easier to apply and eyelashes become more prominent. Less of the eyes’ whites will be visible without excess skin pulling the lids down. Patients look less tired following eyelid surgery and may choose to complement it with other treatments for added effect.

Ethicos Institute’s eye surgery in Perth is simple, effective and priced competitively.

What can Blepharoplasty Do for Me?

Eye surgery at our Perth clinic is fairly straightforward but achieves lasting results.

Our team has performed numerous blepharoplasty procedures to help patients of different ages enjoy a younger look. You may be an ideal candidate for our blepharoplasty treatment if you:

  • feel self-conscious about drooping eyelids or bags under your eyes
  • are frustrated by excess sagging skin beneath the eyes disrupting your makeup application
  • struggle to see as well as you would like to because of drooping upper eyelids
  • have puffy eyelids due to fatty deposits
  • notice more signs of ageing around the eyes than you feel comfortable with

If one or more of these apply to you, our blepharoplasty surgery may be the right option.

What Does Blepharoplasty Involve?

After blepharoplasty, patients look more alert and enjoy improved peripheral vision with less skin to obstruct their eyesight.

The procedure involves:

  • cutting along the folds of the upper, lower or both eyelids
  • removing excess skin, fat and/or muscle
  • redistributing fat if removal is unnecessary
  • closing the incisions

Muscle repair may be performed to address drooping under the lid too, via the same incision. This keeps scarring to a minimum.

Our experienced surgeon, Dr Gillett, is happy to discuss your eye surgery in Perth during a comprehensive consultation. You can ask questions, learn more about the procedure, discover blepharoplasty cost and gain complete peace of mind.

We ensure each patient preparing for blepharoplasty in our Perth clinic has access to all the information you need.

How Long Does a Blepharoplasty Procedure Take?

Eye surgery tends to be a fairly brief process. Most procedures last between one and two hours, though times may vary from one case to another.

We’ll offer a more accurate length during your consultation when we assess your eyelids and goals.

How Long Will I Need to Recover?

We use cold packs to reduce swelling around your eyes after the treatment. This is a common technique but the packs can be taken away if you feel uncomfortable.

Ointment applied to the eyes can blur your vision too, but this will pass. You’ll need the ointment for the first few days of your recovery, though. This stops your eyes drying out while you sleep.

We recommend elevating your head through the night as a further aid to reducing swelling. A salt solution can be used to clean the suture lines too.

Your eyes may feel uncomfortable or sensitive to the light, but only temporarily. Sun exposure must be managed carefully while your eyelids remain sensitive.

Swelling and bruising typically fade within two weeks, though it may be closer to 10 days in some cases. Scars should become less noticeable over subsequent months.

Follow-up appointments are a key part of Ethicos Institute’s blepharoplasty in Perth (and our other procedures). This is essential to monitor your recovery and offer any advice required.

What Can You Expect from Otoplasty in Perth (Ear Pinning)?

The following post covers everything you need to know about otoplasty in Perth. If you have any questions about this procedure, you’ll find the answers below!

What is Otoplasty?

Ears come in many shapes and sizes. They may be big, small, asymmetrical or misshapen.

Unfortunately, some people feel incredibly self-conscious about the way their ears look. And that’s easy to understand: ears are among the most noticeable features of the body.

If you’re embarrassed or uncomfortable about your ears’ size, shape or position, you may try to hide them by growing your hair long or wearing hats. This can be impractical and frustrating, especially with some of the sweltering temperatures we’re used to here in Australia.

Our otoplasty in Perth is an effective, lasting solution.

What can Otoplasty Do for Me?

One of the most common concerns people have about undergoing otoplasty is the impact it will have on their entire appearance.

That’s understandable, but you’re in the best hands with Ethicos Institute: we have performed many otoplasty treatments for people across diverse age groups, with great success.

Otoplasty commonly helps people whose:

ears protrude from their head further than they might like

      earlobes have an unusual shape

ears have been misshapen through a birth defect or injury

      ears are asymmetrical

What Does Otoplasty Involve?

The aim of otoplasty is to achieve a more balanced, harmonious look through the following subtle procedure:

Incisions are created behind one or both ears: this allows the surgeon access to the cartilage

The cartilage is folded, reshaped or taken out entirely to craft the desired shape or positioning

All incisions are stitched together to hold your ears in place during the healing process

You will be invited to speak with your surgeon Dr Gillett ahead of your otoplasty in Perth. This is your opportunity to discuss any concerns or ask questions you may have. We’ll make sure you have all the answers you need for total peace of mind.

How Long Does an Otoplasty Procedure Take?

Generally, otoplasty is a fairly straightforward procedure. The average length tends to be one or two hours, but this can vary from one patient to another.

How Long Will I Need to Recover?

Dressings will be placed around your head to cover your ears after your otoplasty in Perth. You may be asked to wear a small headband at a later date too.

Some discomfort is common with otoplasty, as is swelling and bruising (both of which ease naturally as you recover). It’s vital to follow the directions provided by Ethicos Institute before and throughout the post-surgery stage: any advice we offer is to help you heal properly and comfortably.

We will organise follow-up appointments to monitor your ears’ development and make sure you’re recovering properly.

Your Guide to Rhinoplasty in Perth (Nose Surgery)

Your nose is one of your most prominent facial features — and if you’re unhappy with yours, whether that be cosmetically or due to an injury, that can dramatically affect your confidence and even your ability to breathe.

But there is a solution: rhinoplasty.

Our nose surgery in Perth offers you a chance to transform your nose with lasting results. It’s not all down to aesthetics, though, as various medical factors can be improved by rhinoplasty (broken nose, snoring problems, issues with breathing etc.) too.

At Ethicos Institute, we know you’ll have questions about rhinoplasty before you choose to undergo the procedure. Here are some of the questions specialist Perth plastic surgeon Dr Gillet commonly gets asked by his patients.

Is it normal for my nose to grow with age?

Yes — it is normal for your nose to keep getting bigger as you age. If you’ve noticed yours growing over the years, it’s not your imagination. This change can be subtle for many of us, but very noticeable for others.

What causes it? Cartilage, which continues to grow throughout your life and only stops at death. Noses tend to droop more with age too, which can only increase your unhappiness if you’re self-conscious already.

Depending on your goals, our rhinoplasty in Perth can reduce the size of your nose and make it less bulbous. We aim to balance out your nose to be more proportionate to the rest of your face, which can make a big impact on your overall appearance.

How long does it take to recover from nose surgery?

The recovery process following rhinoplasty poses little disruption to your schedule.

You’ll need to wear a nasal splint for the first 10 days after our plastic surgeon Dr Gillett has performed your rhinoplasty. You may want to consider booking time away from work or social engagements if you’re likely to feel self-conscious about this.

It’s common for bruising and swelling to form around the eyes too, though this should start to fade after a few days. Your nose will swell but start to ease within six months after the procedure.

Also, avoid strenuous exercise for between three and six weeks following your nose surgery; it’s vital to let your nose heal properly. We’ll arrange multiple appointments to monitor your recovery and advise you further.

How much does rhinoplasty cost?

We’ll discuss the price of your procedure during your consultation with Dr. Gillett. He has years of experience performing nose surgery in Perth and has helped many people achieve their desired appearance.

Ethicos Institute is committed to transparency, so rest assured: costs are highly competitive and reflect the quality of our service.
